KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 (Bernama) -- A man was shot dead at close range in a car by a group of men in the compound of the Laksamana Jaya Apartment, Kampung Laksamana, Batu Caves, here yesterday.
Gombak deputy police chief Supt Rosly Hassan said Morgishu Subramaniam, 40, a Malaysian, died at the scene.
He said the incident occurred about 10.30pm while the victim was in his Toyota Vios car waiting for his sister, Krisnani Subramaniam, when a group of five men, all wearing crash helmets, approached and fired 11 shots at close range at him.
Ten shots hit Morgishu, including one on the head and two to the chest, while another went astray and hit Krisnani, who was then near the car, he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Rosly said the suspects then fled in two vehicles, a gold-coloured Proton Waja and a black Mitsubishi Storm, before neighbours contacted the police.
Police believed vengeance and jealousy could be the motive for the attack, he said, adding that seven spent shells were found at the scene.
He urged those with information on the incident to contact the nearest police station to assist police investigation into the case.
Morgishu's body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem, while Krisnani had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Selayang Hospital.
