04/09/07 It’s a common racial slur in Malaysia to label Indians of being drunkards especially toddy (fermented coconut sap) drinking that has been a popular butt of jokes among the non-Indian Malaysians. PPP (People Progressive Party), a mosquito party, chief and political clown Kayveas equated the recently concluded Maika AGM to a toddy shop. Next, you may hear our honorable Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin and his racist ilks to belittle the entire Indian community in Parliament. (......more)

Maika Holdings AGM

After 50 years of Malaysian independence the Indian Malaysians remain divided, angry, emotional and an acrimonious community.

Flurry of lawsuits against Maika?

Thursday, September 27, 2007
Supporters of S. Subramaniam, former MIC deputy president, are expected to file a flurry of lawsuits against Maika Holdings as a move to stop the sale of Oriental Capital Assurance Bhd (OCAB) according to some sources. NESA cooperative, headed by Subra, has already successfully obtained an exparte injunction but there is a concern that this may not hold when the case is heard on 8th. October and thus their group wanted to make a preemptive strike.

Ex-MIC CWC member to file case against Maika
Thursday, October 04, 2007

As reported by imol a few days ago, more lawsuits are to be filed against Maika Holdings founded by MIC president Samy Vellu where his good son Vell Paari is running the show.
Today, K.P.Samy, an ex-MIC central working committee member, is filing an injunction with eight others to stop the sale of Maika’s well managed ‘cash cow’ insurance arm Oriental Capital Assurance Berhard (OCAB). K.P.Samy run his own travel agency business in Klang, is one of the few remaining staunch supporters of former MIC deputy president S.Subramaniam.

Nesa cooperative has already obtained an injunction to stop the sale. The case will be heard on 08/10/09. Many other lawsuits are expected to be filed before the hearing.
On Samy Vellu side, local actress Sujatha’s brother and Vell Paari have each filed lawsuits separately against Makkal Osai daily over Sujatha’s suicide reporting. Good business for lawyers.
