Rights of Workers in Malaysia

CommunityAnonymous writes "Malaysian employers are increasingly discriminating against job applicants, particularly those who belong to minority ethnic groups.

Many employers are practising indirect racial discrimination. They clearly want applicants who can speak certain languages, such as certain Chinese dialects. This is bizarre, since all Malaysians are expected o speak in either English or Malay. There is no excuse for not knowing how to speak in these languages.

CHENNAI, July 13 (Bernama) -- The year-long deft silence on the part of the Malaysian federal police over the arrest of Michael Soosai, wanted in Malaysia for a series of high-profile commercial crimes and murder, have left the Indian authorities baffled.

That the home ministry has yet to seek the 53-year-old suspect's extradition -- despite Malaysia and India signing an extradition treaty last year to stem cross-border crimes -- has raised a myriad of questions.
