CHENNAI: In a breakthrough in the murder of 23-year-old Chennai software engineer
C Parthasarathy, who went missing and was found dead on June 2, the
city police arrested Narasimhan, father of the victim's wife Saranya,
and three other men who, cops said, were hired to kill Parthasarathy. Narasimhan works as an assistant engineer in Metrowater.
The gang abducted the youth, murdered him and set his body on fire. Narasimhan was furious that Saranya, an MBBS
student, had got married to Parthasarathy without his knowledge. He had
fixed Saranya's marriage with another man but she eloped with
Parthasarathy, who belonged to another caste. The couple had met online.
''Clues led us to Narasimhan, Janakiraman, Dileep Kumar and Ram Kumar.
We also seized a car which was used to kidnap Parthasarathy,'' IG C
Sylendrababu said on Saturday.
During interrogation, Narasimhan
said he had hired the henchmen through a friend. ''We are trying to
locate the friend. Narasimhan considered his daughter marrying the man a
dishonour to his family. He promised Rs 2 lakh to the assailants to
finish off Parthasarathy and paid Rs 25,000 as advance,'' a senior
police officer said. They added that soon after their marriage,
Narasimhan threatened them, but they did not bother.
gang attacked Parthasarathy as he was leaving his office on May 2 and
pushed him into a cab. They went to Samayapuram near Tiruchi and then
returned to Chennai. While on their way back, they strangled him. As per
their plan, they poured kerosene on the body and burnt it. When
Parthasarathy did not return home, Saranya filed a police complaint and a
missing case was registered.
