The location of the public toilet
being built in front of Klang Mariamman Temple is still a subject of dispute.
A group led by Thilaiyambalam, public
relations secretary to Selangor EXCO Xavier Jeyakumar, demonstrated in support
of the construction, last Saturday at 2:00 PM, Makkal Osai daily reported.
Apparently, Xavier is adamant in
continuing the construction at the present location.
“Little India is going to be part
of Malaysian tourist locations. Thus, the Tourism ministry is spending millions
for a decent toilet in this area. This place will not progress if we obstruct
the construction”, Xavier said.
However, businessman and
Shahbandaraya chairman K P Samy is not buying this argument.
“Earlier, the Klang council planned
to build the toilet near the church but when the church authorities protested,
the council moved the location to the present place near the Hindu Temple”
“Why are they not considering
Hindu temple management protest?”
“Hindu devotees have to pass
through this place for prayers in the temple and the Indian community will not
accept this”,K P Samy said.
Samy’s contention was disputed by
Justice Party (PKR) regional leader, “Inside the temple itself there is a
toilet, no devotees seem to be bothered about it”.
One could assume that there must
be a toilet inside the church too. If that’s the case, why did the church
authorities protested the original location?
Whatever it is, the whole matter
