High Court Orders Child To Be Surrendered To Mother

IPOH, March 11 (Bernama) -- After a long legal battle, kindergarten teacher M. Indira Gandhi on Thursday wept tears of joy when the Ipoh High Court granted her custody of her youngest child.

Judge Wan Afrah Wan Ibrahim, who made the decision in his chambers, ordered that Prasana Diksa, 22 months, be handed over to Indira Gandhi, 35.

The custody battle had dragged on for over a year after her former husband Mohd Ridzuan Abdullah sought to contest a court order that gave Indira Gandhi temporary custody of her three children.

Selangor Government Appoints 45 Indian Community Leaders

SHAH ALAM, March 10 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Government has appointed 45 people, including a woman, as community leaders to represent the Indian community in the state.

Family Of Suspect In Child Abuse Case Submit Memorandum To IGP

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 (Bernama) -- About 20 family members of the suspect arrested in the connection with the abuse of 18-month-old K. Haresvarran, who died on March 3, on Wednesday handed over a memorandum to Inspector-General of Police Sri Musa Hassan.

The group, which was led by Kapar Member of Parliament S. Manikavasagam, handed over the four-page memorandum to ACP Anuwal Abdul Wahab, who received it on behalf of Musa, at 3.30pm a the Federal Police headquarters (Bukit Aman) here.

Four Indians Killed In Textile Shophouse Fire

OHOR BAHARU, March 10 (Bernama) -- Four Indians were killed when fire razed a textile shophouse in Jalan Pasar, Masai near here early Wednesday.

Johor Fire and Rescue deputy director Syukor Sani Hashim said the fire at 3am also destroyed two adjacent stationery and two textile shops.

Premier Najib needs an economic policy that unfortunately will offend a major part of his constituency Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak apparently has decided that taking the wraps off his long-awaited New Economic Model, as he calls it, is politically too dangerous for now. According to local media, although Najib who doubles as Malaysia's finance minister, had been scheduled to introduce his new policy at the end of March, it is apparently off til June and he may not even introduce it himself, letting someone else take the heat.
